From Cindy Roe

Dear Families of Mountain Oak,

Good news! All the rooms on the bottom floor now have a clean bill of health. Reconstruction began yesterday, November 6th. We can plan the date for the Homecoming Celebration. This will be held November 29, beginning immediately after school. The celebration will be followed by a Community Forum and Parent University. The forum will be informational regarding school happenings and the Parent University will be educational. The yearly forums include fun, information and education. The fun part is the celebration, the information is the forum discussion and the education will be about the four temperaments. Learning about these temperament is beneficial in working together as a family. It is a tool for parenting and will further your knowledge on how the temperaments are implemented in Waldorf-inspired education. This event will be held at the school. Look for more information coming in the ‘Tuesdays’.

There is a new venue for the Fall Assembly this year. My hope is the community can continue to use the Elks Theater in future years. It is important that the students realize what is acceptable behavior for this type of social event. You as parents can help impart courteous social rules. Please remind your child to stay seated with their class until the end of the evening. It is important to support each classes effort in making this evening meaningful. Please try and stay until the close of the evening.

I want to thank the teachers, students and staff for their flexibility and patience throughout the past weeks. It has been challenging for all the teachers. They have supported each other, giving class space up, helping to take down and move furniture and much more. Take a moment and give the teachers a thank you; food, flowers, kisses or hugs, a gesture of acknowledgement of the hard work they always do.

The Lantern Walks in the kindergarten, first and second grades are this week and next week. It is a beautiful gesture of carrying the warmth and light of love through the challenging dark, cold days of winter. Stay warm and shine your light.

Sincerely,
Cindy Roe

If we are a drop of water and we try to get to the ocean as only an individual drop, we will surely evaporate along the way. To arrive at the ocean you must go as a river.
