From Principal Cindy Roe
Dear Families of Mountain Oak,
Thank you Mountain Oak families for your participation
and support of the Festival of Strength and Courage. There, beneath
the tree, sat Mt. Oak parents Madeline Groves, Shellice Swafford,
Geneva Hollyer and Andy Millison. The clothing they wore spoke
of times past; they looked as if they had stepped out of the time
of dragons and knights. Many parents partici¬pated in bringing
forth a successful festival that the students were engaged in
and enjoyed. These festivals are ideal times to appreciate one
another and for the community to spend time together. Thank you
for your attention and care of the school.
Finding time to get together is often a challenge
in the pace of today's world. The class and specialty teachers
dedicate the hours in the day to the students and are often left
with little time during the week to get with other faculty members
to create, share and team build. I have set aside Tuesday of each
week for a faculty lunch to make time for this. It is a time to
bond and further build a strong cohesive faculty. So far we have
been able to support this time and show appreciation to the teachers
by bringing lunch to them on Tuesdays. We need the communities
help in continuing this offering. Soup and bread or salad and
bread are tasty and easy to do. As part of volunteering, or simply
as a gift, if bringing a simple lunch is something you could help
with please contact, Miss Roe or Beni in the of¬fice. For
convenience you can drop the lunch off before school. There is
a crock pot for keeping soup warm and a refrigerator for salads.
Thank you for considering this means of support.
Next week is fall break. There is no half day on
Wednesday, instead it is on Friday. Again, the school appreciates
all you as parents to support the school.
Kindergarten Harvest Festival of Wonder
The Kindergarten's Harvest Festival was a wonder-filled event!
Parents came into the classroom to help the children make pumpkin
cake, bread buns, apple crisp and roasted seeds for our big feast.
Meg Bohrman, our annual musician for this event, played her accordion
and sang for our dancing pleasure. Our puppet show enchanted the
audience: adults and
children alike, and last but not least, the simple gift of an
apple puzzle wrapped up our celebration with sweet success! Thank
you to every kindergarten parent for being an integral part of
educating our children at Mountain Oak School! P.S. How did that
star get into the apple? .....I wonder....

To wonder at beauty,
Stand guard over truth,
Look up to the noble,
Resolve on the good:
This leadeth us truly,
To purpose in living,
To right in our doing,
To peace in our feeling,
To light in our thinking;
And teaches us trust,
In the working of Creation,
In all that there is,
In the width of the world,
In the depths of the soul.
