OPEN HOUSE & OTHER EVENTS:

On Saturday, February 11th from 11-2 p.m., Mountain Oak School will be hosting an ‘Open House’. At this time of the year, looking toward next year and enrollment becomes a key feature. The ‘Open House’ is the perfect opportunity for existing families and students to chaperone neighborhood friends who do not attend MOS and bring them to this Saturday event. The message to convey to new families is there is good reason why Mountain Oak School with its K-8 Waldorf curriculum is the Number One (1) school in Prescott for MAP (Measured Annual Progress) and highly performing Arizona State Standards and test scores. That reason is a highly structured academic program which artistically meets the need of the child. Whether their child is in 1st grade, 5th grade, or 8th grade; whether the subject be Language Arts, History, Math or Science, Mountain Oak School fosters a high-school preparatory K-8 environment where the artistry of the teacher and their command of the subject matter can meet and engage the eagerness and joy of the students in the art and science of education. Our MOS parents are the school’s very best ambassadors when it comes to promoting our school. Think about those families in your neighborhoods and ask them to consider the Mountain Oak K-8 program where the whole child as well as their “Head, Heart and Hands” is educated.

Another arena our current MOS parents can help promote on that ‘Open House’, Saturday the 11th of February, is the Kindergarten. Many parents feel that once upon a time there was a Kingdom called Childhood. Let new prospective families know that this joyous realm still exists today in the Waldorf-Inspired MERRYGOLD KINDERGARTEN at Mountain Oak School! A message to convey is that in MerryGold Kindergarten at Mountain Oak School it is recognized that the time before school, free from formal learning, allows for the development of basic skills in which later formal education and training can build. MerryGold Kindergarten, with its Waldorf pedagogy, develops seven skills that are highlighted for children up to the age of six: Body and Movement, The Senses and Perception, Speech, Imagination and Creativity, Social Ability, Motivation and Concentration, and Ethics and Moral Values. Young children need mindful attendance of parents and well-trained early childhood educators to give them orientation. Only in this way can they find their own path. The first step on that path should be MERRYGOLD KINDERGARTEN at Mountain Oak School. Encourage new parents to come and have a look on Saturday, February 11th and re-discover the Kingdom of Childhood.

To wonder at beauty,
Stand guard over truth,
Look up to the noble,
Resolve on the good:
This leadeth us truly,
To purpose in living,
To right in our doing,
To peace in our feeling,
To light in our thinking;
And teaches us trust,
In the working of Creation,
In all that there is,
In the width of the world,
In the depths of the soul.
