First through sixth grade students enjoyed making beeswax candles at the mid-winter festival. The class rotated between wax stations as they heard a story. The third grade class hosted the festival in their classroom. The room held a wintry feel with cozy lights. Parents helped to set-up the event, shepherd the candle dippers and tell the story.

A different wintry day activity came straight from the Mountain Oak School gnomes. The kindergarten class spent a few weeks hand sewing caps and pouches and on the magical day donned their red caps and brought their red pouches they had filled with polished crystals. Every student and teacher each received a shining crystal to help brighten the way to spring.

Class teachers are preparing for the Winter Festival! The mid-winter festival is scheduled for February 1st and 2nd. Individually, classes (first through sixth grades) enter the room that has been transformed to a winter wonderland. Each student is given candle wick that has been tied to a stick; the students rotate round the room dipping the wick into melted beeswax to create a lovely candle. As the class dips candles they may hear a wintry story or sing songs of cold and frosty days. The middle school students help with wax control while the younger grades are dipping candles. The students bring the candle home to light the cold winter nights still left of winter.
