CurriculumAt the heart of our curriculum is the teacher's relationship with each child and respect for his/her unique development and growth. Beginning in the first grade, teachers move up with their students each year. This provides consistency and security to the child's educational experience, based on the teacher's ever-growing knowledge of each child's academic, social and emotional development. Our teachers work to cultivate three fundamental qualities that form the basis for a life-long love of learning: reverence toward all that lives; gratitude and respect for the efforts and accomplishments of others; and responsibility for one's own self-disciplined action. Incoming students at all grade levels usually adjust easily to the natural progression of the curriculum. Our school fosters a mutual respect among parents, teachers and children through our Parent Teacher Organization, seasonal festivals and performances, parent-teacher dialogue and education about Waldorf-inspired learning. Parent-teacher conferences are held twice a year to discuss each student's progress, and teachers write a detailed, end-of-year narrative for each child. |
